Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 31, 2026
1. Introduction
RACCOONLIST LLC ("RaccoonList," "we," "us," or "our") operates a user-opinion Platform at theraccoonlist.com. This Privacy Policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your choices regarding that information.
By using the Platform, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. This Privacy Policy applies solely to information collected through the Platform. The Platform is intended exclusively for US users. We do not target users in the European Union, United Kingdom, Brazil, or Canada and do not make representations regarding compliance with GDPR, UK GDPR, LGPD, or PIPEDA.
2. Information We Collect
Account Information. When you create an account, we collect your username, email address, date of birth, and a hashed version of your chosen password. We never store your password in plain text.
Raccoon Lookup Identifiers. When you create or search for a Raccoon profile, we collect and store the submitted lookup data: the name string and optional city you provide. This data is stored as Platform lookup identifiers and is not verified for accuracy.
User-Generated Content. We collect opinions, reports, subject reports, claim statements, social links, tags, and other content you submit through the Platform, stored in connection with your account and the associated Raccoon profile.
Moderation Data. We collect records of reports filed by users, moderation actions taken, and any correspondence related to content disputes or policy enforcement.
IP Addresses and Usage Logs. When you access the Platform, our servers automatically record your IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, pages viewed, and timestamps. This information is collected for security, fraud prevention, and operational purposes. IP addresses and server access logs are retained for 30 days and then automatically purged, except where retention is required for ongoing security investigations or legal obligations.
Payment Information. If you make a payment, it is processed directly by Stripe. We do not collect or store full credit card numbers or other sensitive financial data. We may receive and store transaction identifiers, payment status, and associated metadata from Stripe.
Communications. If you contact us, we retain a record of that correspondence.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
Operate, maintain, and improve the Platform; authenticate your identity and manage your account; display Raccoon profiles and associated user-generated content; process payments through Stripe and deliver paid services; enforce our Terms of Use and Community Standards; investigate and respond to reports of abuse or policy violations; detect and prevent fraud, scraping, and unauthorized access; send transactional email communications including verification and password reset notices; maintain security logs and audit trails; and comply with applicable law or enforceable government requests.
We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell your data to third parties for any purpose.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:
Service Providers. We share information with vendors who perform functions on our behalf, including database hosting (Supabase), backend application hosting (Render), email delivery (Resend), payment processing (Stripe), and network and DNS services (Cloudflare). These providers are permitted to use your information only as necessary to provide services to us.
Legal Compliance. We may disclose information if required by applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or as necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of RACCOONLIST LLC, its users, or the public.
Enforcement of Rights. We may disclose information to enforce our Terms, investigate potential violations, or defend legal claims brought against the Platform.
Business Transfers. If RACCOONLIST LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
5. User-Generated Content and Public Information
Content you post on the Platform, including opinions you submit about Raccoon profiles, may be visible to other users. You should not post content on the Platform that you wish to keep private. Raccoon lookup identifiers submitted in connection with profile creation or search may be visible to other users.
6. Data Retention
We retain your account information and user-generated content for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period thereafter. Moderation and security logs may be retained for longer periods as necessary to protect the Platform and comply with legal obligations. When you request deletion of your account, we will delete or de-identify your personal information within a commercially reasonable time, subject to retention required by law, to resolve disputes, or to enforce our agreements. Content you have posted may remain on the Platform in de-identified or anonymized form following account deletion. In the event of a security breach affecting your personal data, we will notify affected users within 30 days of discovery, to the extent required by applicable law.
7. Security
We implement commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information, including password hashing, encrypted connections (HTTPS), and access controls on our systems. No security system is impenetrable. We cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
8. Children's Privacy
The Platform is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The Platform requires all users to be 18 or older. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete that information promptly.
9. Third-Party Links and Services
The Platform may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those third parties. This Privacy Policy applies only to information collected by the Platform.
10. Your Choices and Rights
Account Deletion. You may request deletion of your account by contacting us. Upon verified request, we will delete your account and associated personal information subject to the retention exceptions described above.
Email Communications. You may opt out of non-transactional email communications by following the unsubscribe instructions in any such email. We may still send transactional communications necessary to operate your account.
We are a US-based service and do not guarantee compliance with EU GDPR, UK GDPR, LGPD, or similar non-US privacy frameworks.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document. Your continued use of the Platform after any change constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy.
